Insecure Writer's Group

A couple insecurities ago, group therapy at my place focused on finding time for writing.  We all seemed to  agree that you just gotta do it.  Which is awesome, but once you give yourself over to writing the problem becomes...how do you find the time to do everything else?  Fret not, my darling blog friends, for I have the answer:

You don't.

There's no way you can do everything your heart desires and your life demands, so set your priorities, ax what needs to go and be okay with that.  For example, last night I realized I had an IWSG post this morning, but I just didn't have time to write something brilliant and insightful.  So what did I do?

I didn't.

(But thanks for stopping by anyway. ;)  And thanks for hosting, Alex)

But you did write one! And that's true - if you're going to write, something else has got to go.

I agree with Alex, you did write one. :)

It's impossible to do everything, and it is important to find which things are more important than others. A great reminder for the new year.

You gave me a laugh here! I'm pretty good at skipping the laundry!

Sometimes all you have to do is hold someones hand. Words are optional. :)

Hahaha :-) It worked out well though, because I enjoyed that post :-) And you're right. You just have to cut some things out. Like sleep. Though that one tends to backfire after a while...

LOL

That balance between RL and writing is never easy to find I swear it changes from day to day.

Writing is important, so that should be the priority, well, after the kids and hubs. Maybe the dog and laundry.

I agree with Alex. You did write one. And a very true one at that.

That's a great post - and so true.

I laugh when my friends talk about 'ironing' and 'laundry' - in our house it just gets folded and left in the basket and eventually the kids find it... although I spotted one grey and one black/pink striped sock walking together out of the door today.

It's amazing just how scummy one can get when writing takes over. You are so right to say, FRET NOT, life is a compromise.

At least his feet were warm and dry...

This was just what I needed to hear - even though you didn't share maybe what you thought was needed, you provided just what needed to be said. Thanks - new follower :)

Hey Nicki: Quick thinking.

You're so right about that. Things just have to go. Which is why I'd love to earn enough for a cleaning service. :)

Sometimes you have to be flexible, think outside the box, and doing nothing is just that. Good for you! Great post.
You're totally right. There are so many things I need to do every day, and they are all important. But trying to get them all done at once isn't always possible, and it just stresses me out when I try to get them done or when I think of all the stuff I didn't get to.

For someone that threw together this post at the last second you did great!

YOU ARE SO RIGHT! You can't do it all, as I have found out tragically this year. When I began writing three years ago and did NOTHING else. Not time for friends, working out, television or even much reading.

Well as you know I BLEW Up... Gained tons of weight and felt like sheer hell.

I took my life back last spring and dropped a ton plus more and as you guessed my writing and BLOGGING has suffered... OH, NO! So now I am desperately trying to rearrange my schedule to fit in both. Today I worked out and I am blogging. Next reading a friend's short story to critique.... It's only 12:30 am... I still have time.... right?

Miss you sweetie.....
This is so true. I swear, now that I'm a full time writer (in other words, broke), I work harder than when I was gainfully employed. I've quickly found that I don't have time for it all... but I try.

Another insecure writer checking in.

Short but sweet. ;) I haven't been getting much writing done at all lately, wah! Having a new book come out is a ton of work, but hopefully I'll get back to writing soon.

Ugh. I just blogged today, in fact, about the discipline NaNoWriMo gave me to prioritize writing every day...only for me to not do it ever since. Whatev.
