A to Z Obscure Disney World Tips: D

D is for: Dinoland

On the whole, Dinoland is loud and tacky and horrible (except for the Dinosaur ride, which is pretty cool.  Oh, and the replica of Sue, the famous T. Rex).  But amidst the madness, there's a surprising refuge.  If you're looking to kill time while awaiting your Fastpass window for either Dinosaur or Expedition Everest, might I suggest a walk along the Cretacious Trail?  It's a peaceful path lined with plants dating back to the Cretaceous era...and dinos hidden amid the flora.

Here's my Cutey McPretty venturing into the Cretaceous Trail with the Stitch she purchased moments before (at a loud, tacky and horrible gift shop):

Disney World Trivia
Walt Disney World displays a replica of Sue, the most complete T. Rex to have been discovered. Where do Sue's genuine bones reside?

I wanted to be an archeologist when I was a kid.

When I saw Jurassic Park, my head nearly exploded.

Hey Nicki it's been a while. How's the a-z treating you. Enjoy the holidays.

...thinking back, the Cretaceous Trail was more enjoyed by me than the kids, who were simply embarrassed with their father's silliness at the time ;)

Sounds like a great walk. I would like to see Sue. Where did the bones come from? I'm gonna guess. Alberta, Canada near Drumheller? That's just a guess because I'm from near there.

More than ten years ago, I went to Disney World with my parents and two brothers. We rode a dinosaur ride where they snap your photo right when a T-Rex or some such creature pops out like it's going to nab your head off.

I love that pic.

I'm still hoping to have some clue on your trivia questions. So far, 0 for 4.

Dinoland sounds marginally better than legoland ;) And no idea where Sue's bones might be buried.
I just went to Disney last october and my girls had a blast. Well, we all had a blast. The little ones are already planning for a return trip and I'm trying to convince my husband to buy a timeshare so we can spend every vacation on a disney themed trip.

Nice blog!

Not a big fan of amusement parks, but these look like good tips. I'm trying to visit all the A-Z Challenge Blogs during April

How awesome! I'm doing a Disney like blog as well! But I know what you mean about tacky. Lots of dinosaur places I've been to are ridiculously tacky. But tacky is what makes up childhood memories, right?

Doh, Keriann beat me to it - Field Museum! I just saw her a couple weeks ago. :)

Getting caught up on your magnificent A-Z, sis. I missed the boat this year, but I'm having more fun reading your tips and wit.
