History Lesson: Back in the 80s, before there was the Real World, Cribs and Jersey Shore, MTV (short for Music Television) used to play a little something called music videos. Weird, huh? Well, a good portion of my youth was spent in front of my boyfriend's telly (my parent's hadn't gone for this new-fangled "cable television" yet) just waiting and waiting for Martha Quinn, Alan Hunter, and Mark Goodman to play one of my favorites (my parents hadn't gone for the new-fangled VCRs yet either). And who can forget the big Michael Jackson "Thriller" premier?
So bring on the nostalgia! Here's a widgetbox with top MTV videos from the 1980s. The collection will be changing cuz there's so, so, so many to choose from, and I'm taking requests, so feel free to drop me a comment with yours.

Optional Question: What started you on your writing journey? Was it a particular book, movie, story, or series? Was it a teacher/coach/spouse/friend/parent? Did you just "know" suddenly you wanted to write? I love that this question came right now. I was just reminded of the very first novel-length story I ever wrote and why I wrote it. As a small child I'd spend hours rocking in the La-Z-Boy with my parents' easy-listening radio station playing in the background, just thinking and imagining to the likes of Olivia Newton-John and Barry Manilow. The clouds are still my favorite place to put my head...but I listen to better music now. 2. I dig words. I'd always thought of myself as more of a numbers person, but as I forged a career as an investment analyst and my (tor)mentor beat me down until I finally mastered the wr...
Just when I was in dire need of something to break me out of my funk and get revved up for the new year, along come Suze and M.Pax with an invitation to co-host a most excellent bloghop adventure! Enough looking back upon the past that was 2012, we're jumping forward to 2023. Your adventure instructions are here: You're up before dawn on a Saturday when the doorbell rings. You haven't brewed your coffee so you wonder if you imagined the sound. Plonking t he half-filled carafe in the sink, you go to the front door and cautiously swing it open. No one there. As you cast your eyes to the ground, you see a parcel addressed to you ... from you. You scoop it up and haul it inside, sensing something legitimate despite the extreme oddness of the situation. Carefully, you pry it open. Inside is a shoebox -- sent from ten years in the ...
