Genre Favorites Blogfest

Welcome to the Genre Favorites Blogfest, hosted by the illustrious AJC.  Today we're going to fess up to our favorite genre in 3 categories plus a guilty pleasure.  Here are mine:

Movies

My gut answer is classic Romantic Comedy, like When Harry Met Sally, Four Weddings and a Funeral, and Notting Hill. But if we consult my favorite movies ever: Raiders of the Lost Ark, Pirates of the Caribbean (all of them), and Star Wars IV,V & VI, we can't ignore my thirst for Adventure.

Music

Come on, who are you talking to here?  The answer to that would be 80s Alternative, like the Cure, Madness, INXS, The Clash, REM, etc, etc. etc, though I'm liking lots of current alternative bands as well, like Stone Sour, Hollywood Undead and Egypt Central

Books

Fantasy, with The Hobbit, all the Harry Potters, and The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe being among my all time favorites. But I'm also a sucker for a Classic Romance, like Pride & Prejudice, Emma, and Gone with the Wind.

Guilty Pleasures
I...don't feel guilty about any of my pleasures. At least not in these genres.  If we were talking TV, however, I'd be forced to admit my unhealthy relationship with The Bachelor.  I try not to watch, really I do, but that Chris Harrison is wiley I tell ya, and he always seems to find some way of pulling me back in.

Now, get ye to the Blogfest List so you can keep hopping.

80's alternative? Never would've guessed! And Raiders is the perfect action-adventure movie.
Thanks for participating in my blogfest!

Rom Coms are the best! I only saw When Harry Met Sally for the first time a few months ago and I loved it!

When Harry Met Sally is a classic. Good choice!

Good picks. My wife prefers Action/Adventure movies and that's okay by me. My mother and probably my sisters love shows like The Bachelor--I'm not into those at all, though I have tried them.

RomCon (4 Weddings and a Funeral!) and action movies are high on my list too. Aww...INXS. That reminds me of high school and makes me sad about the lead singer. Your angel novel is right in line with your favorite book genre, huh? Do you have anyone to watch The Bachelor with? My friend and I used to watch it together, guessing who'd get chopped, and that made it so much more fun.

I was super curious about which ones you'd list, Nick!

There have been a lot of WHMS sightings, today. :)

The Clash, REM, and The Talking Heads are some of my absolute favorite bands! And of course Tolkien's Hobbit and LOTR trilogy are some of my all-time favorite books, too!

Great selections!

I agree that I seem to have a lot more guilty pleasures on TV (mostly CW and ABC Family shows) than in books or movies. Although I always catch myself be-bopping along to bubble-gum pop, which does make me feel a little guilty to admit.

I enjoyed reading about your favorite genres,
Jocelyn

80's alternative. Love it! I use to have an unhealthy relationship with Survivor, but I've cut myself off and I'm happier for it.

Rom coms are great fun. Alt is great music, especially from the 80's. :)

Totally with ya on the movie and music choices, and The Bachelor's not bad either.

Can't go wrong with 80s music or romantic comedies, in my opinion.

Ooh, the Bachelor. I have found myself watching that when I find it on.
Yay for the books! Love all of them!

I'm right with you on movies. I chose Romantic Comedy as my favorite but added Action/Adventure as a runner up.

More RomComs! Definitely leading in the movie category of this blogfest. The ultimate escape, right? Either that or The Bachelor.

I love most of your favorite. I'll try to get to my review of "Three Daves" this week -- at long last.

Love When Harry Met Sally. My husband and I WERE Harry and Sally!
Ah REM, I still feel sad when I think of them splitting up, but then I put on a CD and everything is right again :-)

Those are great Fantasy titles!

When Harry Met Sally seems to be very popular. :)

Great answers. LOVE Harry Potter and Narnia (of course) but I don't know many other people who've read Gone With the Wind. Honestly, I'm not usually a big fan of the classics, but how do you not love Scarlett, right? That's been one of my faves since I was thirteen. :)

New follower btw. Great blog and nice to meet you!

I love The Cure.

I only watched the first year or two of The Bachelor. I can no longer stomach reality shows.

"Our house, in the middle of our street..." Loved the Madness shout-out. You don't get that every day!
Hi, Nicki. How are you? Although I was more 80's hair metal, I do have a soft spot for INXS and REM and the like.
I loved your Rom Com choices. I loved shocking folks on my site about being the horror writer who loved Rom Coms!
Take care.
