Lexa & Julie's Dream Destinations Blog Hop & #Giveaway

We're celebrating the release of Julie Flanders' The Ghosts of Aquinnah and Lexa Cain's Soul Cutter with a Dreams Destinations blog hop. Aaand Lexa & Julie are hosting a great GIVEAWAY.  Visit either Lexa's blog or Julie's blog to enter and also to find the Linky list so you can travel to more dream destinations.

It was unbelievably difficult for me to settle on just one place. I decided to make it somewhere I'd never been before...and then I decided to stop over thinking and just pick a place already...and I landed at Piazza San Marco in Venezia, or as we call it for some reason, Venice. (Does anyone know why we don't all call it Venezia?)

I would stroll the square, sidestepping pigeons and saying buongiorno to people whose eyes met mine, not worrying about my sorry accent. I would have tickets for that evening's opera in my pocket and a caffe-flavored gelato in my hand. I'd be wearing a darling scarf I'd just purchased, arranged in the most stylish of ways, while digesting the Eucharist I received that morning at the basilica. Also, I'd still be smiling about something flirty the adorable gondolier said to me the night before---right before I handed him the biggest tip he'd gotten in a good long while.

How about you? Where's your dream destination?

Congrats to Julie & Lexa!!!

So what was the tip? Or do I want to know?
Nice choice, Nicki!

Love your choice as Venice is gorgeous beyond words. And I congratulated you on your victory on Pax's blog instead of yours - yipes! - the computer drives me nuts! Still, that tournament was a fun time -- great getting to know you!

Venice is a beautiful place! Good choice.
Thank's for the stroll and gondola ride, Nicki. My daughter visited Venice, and some day I'd like to go there too!

I've always heard wonderful things about Venice and I'd love to go there too. It seems so magical with the gondolas, etc. Great choice!

Thanks for taking part in our hop, Nicki!

I'd visit Venice anytime. Another center of culture with a rich history. I've read several books set there and there were some interesting tales about that financial district in the 1500-1600s.

Best of luck to Julie and Lexa!

I'd love to go to Italy someday, and agree about why Americans insist on using Anglicised versions of many foreign cities' names. I'm probably one of a small minority who says Moskvá instead of Moscow.

That is absolutely one of my dream destinations. I really want to see Venice, particularly at Carnival time. Such a romantic city. Great pick. :)
Venice brings out the romantic streak in all our hearts, and you describe your imaginary visit so well. I'd also want our gondolier to sing to us in a achingly beautiful tenor voice. (sigh)

Terrific choice! Ciao!

Nice choice. I love the way you envision the day.

I'm doing my destination post tomorrow. If my passport gets here in time.

Venice! What a wonderful choice - and Cecilia picked it too! I don't think anywhere in the world is as romantic. I loved the narrative of what you'd be doing there. Thanks so much for joining the hop and for donating to the prizes! :-)

Thanks, Lovely Lady, for your fab comment -- this kitchen renovation is running me in circles. Brought three bags of STUFF to the Salvation Army today that didn't make the move to NC cut. Home Goods is my Waterloo, LOL!
Venice is a fantastic choice! I've heard wonderful things about all of Italy and it sounds like you have great plans. I hope you get to go someday!

All of Italy is beautiful, but Venice has to be the most gorgeous.
Italy was my pick for the blog hop! Next time I go, I want to stop and see Venice, along with a lot of other places. :)

It sounds like a perfect way to visit Venice.
Agree with you, Venice sounds so lame, compared to the much cooler-sounding Venezia.
Here in Austria, we call it Venedig, which is also lame :)

Great post!
I enjoyed your imagining of your vacation as much as your choice! Sounds like a divine way to spend a vacation.

Venice would be awesome. There's lots of places in Italy I'd love to see, but Venice is at the top.
