Hey there! Entering the room Kramer style for this month's IWSG.



So we're getting right to the hilarious question:

What's the strangest thing you've ever googled in researching a story?


As writers, we've got the craziest search history ever, right? It's funny to see what ads pop up as I roam the internet and Google tries to figure out who I am and what I'm about. I know I've been led to some really unexpected links during online searches, and I'd love to tell you about them, but none are coming to me right now---perhaps I've mentally blocked them for my own safety. 

To answer this month's question I'm going with an old standby: poison. I needed it tasteless, odorless, and undetectable when added to food, see?  And I needed an antidote, too. The shadier the characters associated with the poison, the better. Now stop askin' questions. I've already told ya too much.

Love me some Kramer. Ooh, I googled poison once as well, for a fan fiction. Whichever one I chose at the time turned my character's skin blue--that was fun!

Poison and herbs are always good choices to research in writing. There is so much out there and if you have a specific purpose for it in a scene, its good to know what is realist with herbs and such. Happy IWSG Day :)

I try to block some of that stuff, too. It's sad when a Google search for a library or bookstore turns up weird crap.

Haven't had a story involving poison (yet)! But I've certainly googled many other ways to injure my characters.

Stories with poison can be so addictive, that is when you have discovered that there are millions of poisons out there, some already in your backyard and even in your home. Beware!

Poison would be a fun one to research :) I like Wiccan witches and have researched spells and herbs. So easy to get lost in the research tunnel.

Yay, today's the day for another of Alex. J. Cavannaugh's famous blogfests.
